Despite challenges here and there which is a natural phenomenon as far as human beings are concerned,Dederi’s cabinet have recorded tremendous achievements during the period under review.
In a message to the entire practicing journalists in Kano jointly signed by the Chairman comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi and secretary Abubakar Shehu kwaru they appreciated the maximum support and cooperation they have been receiving from the larger membership which is the secret behind the trait. It recalled that, during the period under review the present leadership participated actively in so many journalists related activities and programmes within and outside the state which includes ;the National Triennial Delegates conference held in Owerri, the capital city of Imo state, recent NUJ’s seventieth Anniversary staged at Federal capital Territory, Abuja among others.
It added that, the state council had also succeeded in ensuring hitch free election of the State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women journalists NAWOJ, likewise that of Freedom Radio, Abubakar Rimi Television ARTV, Pyramid Radio and Kano correspondents ‘s chapel.
Spectacularly, the Dederi led cabinet of the pen professionals in the pyramid City also triumphed in securing the mandate from the National secretariat for establishing additional five new chapels, prominent among them is Online Media Chapel which have since been inaugurated aimed at sensitizing the community on new media organisations affairs.
The council within a short period in office actualized some of its five points agenda including rebranding the council, maintaining ethics of journalism, capacity building and welfare of the members.
The present leadership also carried out some minor renovations at the Press Center and above all the ongoing work of reestablishing the union’s clinic for the benefit of members and their households.

The state Chapter within the period moreover, facilitated the appointment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as Grand patron of the Union and consequently the NUJ most media friendly Governor of the year, 2025.
It is worthy of note as we attained a year in office to hail the existing cordial rapport between the state government and the Union more than ever before in view of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s extra ordinary attributes coupled with the openness and friendliness of the image maker of the Government, the Commissioner of Information, comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya who is always committed in ensuring the overall success of the Union activities.
