Dederi Inaugurates score cards Committee to review the Ministry’s achievements and otherwise.

The Kano State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, has inaugurated a committee to review the achievements, challenges, and future direction of the Ministry of Justice.

The committee, chaired by Dr. Abdullahi Ibrahim Muhammad, Director of the Legal Department, has been mandated to conduct a thorough review of the ministry’s activities during the first and second halves of the year under review. Its primary responsibility is to assess areas of achievement, identify lapses and strengths, and recommend measures for improved efficiency and performance.

Among its terms of reference, the committee is tasked with:Compiling comprehensive record of all appeal cases, including those outsourced and those still being handled by the ministry, as well as their current status and assigned officers.Collaborating with the Management Publicity Committee to ensure weekly publicity of the ministry’s activities, such as arraignments and judgments (especially those in favor of the ministry), through traditional and digital media platforms. This also includes enhancing patronage of the ministry’s social media handles and developing a functional website.Advising management on effective implementation of resolutions, staff training and retraining programmes, and the selection of competent officers in batches.Proposing modalities for periodic progress reporting to management.Examining the concerns of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN) and providing appropriate recommendations for onward submission to the state government.

The committee has three weeks to submit its report, is composed of the following members:Ahmad Garba, Director of Administration and General Services- Secretary,Rabi Shehu Ahmad, Deputy Director, Public Prosecution,Mujtaba Adam Ameen, Director, Legal Department, Ministry of Housing,Habiba A. Yelwa, DDCR,Bashir Saleh, Deputy Director, Sharia Department,Najib Lawan Dambazau, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the ministry.

Speaking during the inauguration, Barr. Dederi emphasized the importance of the committee’s work in strengthening the ministry’s institutional capacity, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring greater accountability in the justice sector.
