Kano State Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Isma’ila Aliyu Danmaraya has secured admission for and offered scholarships to 11 indigent youths of Dambatta local government as each of the students were given a cash support of N50,000 each, to enable them study different courses, at the College of Health Technology, Bebeji in Kano State in a statement issued by the Director Public Enlightenment of the Ministry Aminu Kabeer Yassar and made available to thetentaclesnews.com.ng
Equally, the commissioner offered to undertake the refurbishment of boreholes at Saidawa, Fagwalawa and Kore wards in Dambatta local government area, to improve rural water supply and public sanitation.He similarly released an undisclosed amount for the execution of civil works,including interlocking and construction of sheds at two community Islamiyya schools in the local government, to facilitate favourable teaching and learning conditions.
Speaking while addressing a group of youths from the area, Dr. Danmaraya explained that the move was aimed at giving back to his community. “This is about leveraging our circumstances or opportunities to impact our communities in the best way possible.
We were given scholarships by the Kwankwaso, without knowing us, as a result of which we are where we are today.Therefore, we have duty to support our younger ones to progress”, he affirmed.He advised youths in the area not to relent in the pursuits of education, despite economic challenges, stressing that with every challenge, there is a potentiality.
In their separate remarks, Prof. Abdurrahman Tahir and Dr. Umar Tasi’u Mustafa said the Commissioner initiated the establishment of Dambatta Progressive Forum, to compliment the effort of the state government towards enhancing the development of Dambatta local government area, urging indegines of the area to support the initiative in their own interest.Meanwhile, NNPP party stalwarts, pensioners and beneficiaries of different government empowerment programmes, from Dambatta, used the opportunity and praised the commissioner for facilitating support for them and relentless community service.
