On its effort to ensure climate resilience and to ensure friendly environment Doguwa local government launched Tree planting Campaign in the Area.
While lunching the Campaign the Chairman of the Area Abdulrashid Rudwan, explained that the tree-planting exercise is of great importance, considering the vital role trees play in improving soil texture and to prevent erosion, protecting the environment from desertification, and enriching the land for farming in a statement by the Information Officer of the Area Labaran Garba Chiromawa and made available to thetentaclesnews.com.ng
He noted that fallen leaves decompose to form organic manure, thereby increasing soil fertility and boosting agricultural production.
Chairman Abdulrashid Rudwan urged workers and the people of the area not to neglect the newly planted trees but to ensure proper care and maintenance.
He emphasized that utmost care must be given to the plants up to maturity stage as plants exhale oxygen which is vital for human existence whereas human beings exhale carbon dioxide which plants need for survival, stressing that there is direct symbiotic relationship between human beings and plants
In his remarks, the Director Personnel Management of the Area Alhaji Awwal Sabo Yarima, commended the incumbent administration for its initiative aimed at developing not only Doguwa but the entire Kano State.
He called on the people of the area to take advantage of the tree-planting program by nurturing and protecting the trees for sustainable development while supporting other developmental projects initiated by the present administration for the economic growth of the entire region.
Earlier, the Head of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department highlighted that this initiative is part of the government’s long-standing program, where tree-planting is carried out annually to fight desert encroachment while ensuring a favorable climate in various sectors.
He expressed gratitude to the Chairman of Doguwa Local Government for his commitment and dedication in all areas of development for the economic advancement of the entire region.
