The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Kano State Chapter, celebrated this year’s World Teachers’ Day with a renewed commitment towards supporting government efforts in improving the state’s education sector.
The State Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Comrade Dr. Abdu Usman Yalo, commended teachers for their enduring commitment and sacrifices in educating the society and promoting quality education where he emphasized that teachers remain the backbone of every successful society and deserve recognition for their vital role in nation-building in a Press Statement by Usman Datti Abdullahi, Director Public Enlightenment of the State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board, which was issued to the tentacles news.com.ng
The Chairman, also pledged ASUSS’s continued cooperation with the Kano State Government in the implementation of education reforms and policies aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning across the state.
He reaffirmed that the union will sustain its partnership with relevant stakeholders to advance teachers’ welfare, and professional development.
Emphasizing the importance of professional recognition in the teaching profession, Comrade Dr. Abdu Usman Yalo urged all teachers to ensure they are duly registered with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) as a mark of competence, professionalism, and commitment to educational standards.
Yalo, further commended the Executive Secretary, Honorable Rabiu Sale Gwarzo, for his exemplary leadership in complementing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s initiatives, particularly through the timely payment of salaries, staff promotions, and other welfare-oriented measures.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board, Honorable Rabiu Sale Gwarzo, congratulated the teachers on the special celebration and highlighted some of the state government’s ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing staff welfare and boosting morale for improved service delivery. He specifically mentioned the near completion of the GSS Tudun Yola perimeter fence, the recruitment of 1,600 security personnel, and 400 mathematics teachers, among other efforts, to promote effective teaching and learning across the state.
