Power sector remains a stumbling blocks to the steady advancement of societies across the state hence Kano State Government reaffirms commitments to partnership with stakeholders for electricity generation and resource management.
State Commissioner of Power and Renewable Energy, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, restate this when he led a high-powered delegation to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) office in Abuja in a Press Statement issued by the Spokesperson to Ministry Sa’ad Umar Faruk and made available to thetentaclesnews.com.ng
The Commissioner said the visit marks a significant milestone in the development of small hydro power plants in Kano State, particularly the Ghari Dam project in Ghari local government area
Dr. Ghaddafi Sani explained that the partnership between the State government and UNIDO underscores the commitments to sustainable development and renewable energy.
He disclosed that the development of small hydro power plants in Ghari Dam is expected to:Increase power generation capacity and Support agro-allied industries, promoting economic growth development.
The Commissioner further highlighted that this will enhance energy security and reduce reliance on fossil fuels and create jobs opportunities and stimulate local economies.
He added that the initiative was part of the expanded power generation intervention the Executive Governor, Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf which aligned with the global best Practice towards Combating climate change and promote clean energy solutions.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Managing Director of Kano Hydro and Energy Development Company , Engr. Abduljabbar Muhd, takes representatives of the UNIDO Company that will work on the Ghari electricity project on an inspection tour.
Engineer Abduljabbar Said, the tour was part of the present administration’s commitments towards leveraging international expertise and resources for development projects and to assess the site.
The company representative Lin Chang Pang stated that their team was on site to observe and assess the area for the power supply project.
