Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board has reaffirmed the State Government’s commitments towards advancing digital transformation in the education sector through the gradual adoption of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for NECO and WAEC Examinations Body
Speaking during a live programme of Freedom Radio, Gwarzo explained that Kano State has already commenced the transition to CBT, with initial implementation initiatives aimed at preparing schools, students, and teachers for a full shift from paper-and-pen examinations to digital assessment in the near future.
The Executive Secretary noted that the reform is a key part of the State’s plan to improve the education system, make examinations more credible, minimize cases of malpractice, and better prepare students with the ICT skills they need to compete in today’s world.
Gwarzo highlighted the ongoing renovation exercises worth billions of naira across girls’ boarding schools, notably GGSS Yargaya, GGC Gezawa, and the School for Persons with Special Needs, Tudun Maliki. He added that more schools are now benefiting from upgraded water supply systems, improved security, and fencing projects, citing the recently completed perimeter wall at GSS Tudun Yola.
He further stated that over 1,000 teachers and 826 school heads are scheduled for capacity-building programmes under the directive of the Head of Civil Service, complementing the Board’s Digital Literacy Initiative (LATO), adding that the state government has equally distributed instructional materials, laboratory equipment, and other learning resources to strengthen academic performance.
Rabiu Gwarzo also commended Governor Yusuf for restoring teacher morale through timely and complete salary payments, which he noted contributed to Kano securing 1st position nationally in the 2025 NECO Examinations
