The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially granted approval for the full-time establishment of ten new academic programmes at Northwest University Kano, with effect from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The newly approved programmes are; B.Sc. Nursing Science, Doctor of Physiotherapy (D.PT.),Bachelor of Radiography (B.Rad.),B.Sc. Pharmacology,B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS),B.Sc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics,B.Sc. Public Administration8. Masters and Postgraduate Diploma in Information Management,Master of Library and Information Science (M.LIS),Postgraduate Diploma, M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Biochemistry
This remarkable achievement represents another major milestone in the University’s academic growth, expanding its portfolio to meet the rising demand for highly skilled professionals across diverse disciplines.
In a congratulatory message,to the Deputy Governor of Kano state who is also the Honourable Commissioner Ministry for Higher Education, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, lauded the Management, staff, and entire University community for this accomplishment.
He particularly commended the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, for his leadership and tireless commitment to transforming Northwest University Kano into a centre of academic excellence and innovation.
The approval of these programmes are expected to enhance the University’s academic profile, broaden access to quality higher education, and contribute significantly to human capital development in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
