Ajuwa Date Palm Tree Planting Campaign officially kicked off at Annoor International Islamic Academy, Bauchi, marking a big step toward building climate resilience and promoting a greener environment and economic strategy in the society.
The campaign, themed “Greening Our Future: Youth Leading with Date Palms,” was organized by Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI) in collaboration with Annoor International Islamic Academy in a statement issued to thetentaclesnews.com.ng
The National Agency for The Great Green Wall (NAGGW), Youth Climate Council Nigeria (YCCN), Generation Unlimited (GenU 9JA), YOMA, ZEE Concept and the Great Green Wall Youth Advisory Board.pointes out that at the event, 100 date palm trees were planted by dignitaries and partners, including Commissioner of Housing and Environment Danlami Ahmad Kawule, represent by the Director Environment Mal. The School Proprietor, Dr. Aisha Usman Muhammod, praised GECCI for choosing Annoor as a host, describing the initiative as a timely contribution to environmental education and sustainable development.
As she graciously thanked all GECCI members across Bauchi State and the Students’ Union for their unwavering support and participation — proving that climate action is not optional, it’s essential.
The campaign will continue across eleven frontline states including Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Yobe, Borno, Gombe, Kebbi, and Adamawa.
