The wife of the Executive Chairman, Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State,Hajiya Aliya Hamisu Muhammad Garu, has joined the global community in commemorating the 2025 World Handwashing Day with a call on residents to embrace regular hand washing as a key measure towards preventing the spread of infectious diseases in a Press Released issued by the Information Officer of the Area Sulaiman Daudu Babura and made available to thetentaclesnews.com.ng
Speaking at the event held at Malam Nuhu Special Primary School, Babura, Hajiya Aliya described the occasion as part of continuous efforts to sensitize and sanitize the community on the importance of personal hygiene, especially hand washing with soap and clean water adding that it has become highly imperative to continuously mobilize general publics on the importance of regular hand washing and other personal hygiene.
She further urged attendees of the event to relay the message to others within their communities to ensure wider awareness and effective adoption of the practice.
Also speaking, Head of the Water and Sanitation Department, Malam Muhammad Wakili Kargo, appealed to the people of Babura Area to make handwashing a daily habit, stressing that it plays a vital role in reducing the spread of diseases and improving overall public health and is in tandem with Islamic principles of personal hygiene observation
In a goodwill message delivered by the Village Head of Achiya on behalf of the District Head of Babura, Sarkin Bai Ringim, Alhaji Muhammad Nata’ala Mustapha, expressed readiness of his domain to support the campaign through wider mobilization and advocacy across communities at all the times.
During the event, health personnel demonstrated the proper handwashing techniques, highlighting the critical moments when hands should be washed to maintain good hygiene.
As part of the activities marking the day, a similar sensitization session was conducted at Babura General Hospital, targeting health workers and patients alike.
