The All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently facing internal turmoil following fresh calls for the resignation of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Demonstrators under the banner of Concerned North Central APC Stakeholders staged a protest at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, urging Ganduje to step down immediately.
The protesters cited alleged corruption charges and a controversial suspension initiated by ward-level party executives in Kano as reasons for their demand. They carried placards with bold inscriptions such as “Ganduje Must Resign” and “Return APC Chairmanship to North Central,” insisting that the party leadership should honor its zoning agreement by returning the chairmanship to the North Central region.
Amid rising tension, party leaders from the North Central zone sent a formal letter to the APC National Working Committee, expressing a vote of no confidence in Ganduje. The letter, signed by prominent figures including Mohammed Mahmud Saba, also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, to intervene and ensure adherence to the zoning formula.

Despite the growing pressure, the APC national leadership has dismissed Ganduje’s alleged suspension as politically motivated and lacking constitutional basis. However, calls for his resignation continue to intensify within party ranks, raising concerns about unity and discipline ahead of future electoral contests.
