In a landmark event held at Zaranda Hotel, Bauchi, the Kautal Pulaaku Fulbe Association of Nigeria officially launched its operations and inaugurated its North East zonal and state executives.
The ceremony was marked by passionate appeals and calls for peace, unity, and responsible citizenship among Fulani youths across the country.
The National President of the association, Alhaji Muhammadu Hussaini Buzaye, emphasized the need for Fulani communities to reject criminality and work towards national development.
“This association was formed to promote understanding, cooperation, and the welfare of our people,” Buzaye declared.
“We are here to unite Fulani youths, discourage criminality, and promote peace and responsible citizenship.”
Zero Tolerance for Crime
Buzaye made it clear that the association would not shield any member involved in criminal activities. “Anyone found guilty will face justice. However, innocent individuals and communities must not be punished for the crimes of a few,” he said, condemning the widespread stigmatization of Fulani people.
He expressed concern over the stereotyping of Fulani communities, which he described as unjust and dangerous. According to him, this trend has led to hate, isolation, and indiscriminate attacks resulting in loss of lives and destruction of property.
Addressing Challenges:
The Fulani communities, Buzaye noted, face numerous challenges including:
Environmental degradation and desertification
Community clashes and cattle rust point Limited access to grazing reserves and water points
Unfair treatment by law enforcement
Animal diseases and lack of veterinary support
He called for youth and women empowerment, improved access to education and healthcare, and the establishment of legal and human rights structures to protect Fulani citizens.
On the Government Support and Strategic Plans,
Buzaye commended the Federal Government for establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development, expressing hope that it would address pastoralist challenges.
He also unveiled the association’s plans to:
Strengthen leadership at state and local levels
Launch public awareness campaigns against crime
Empower youths and women
Improve education and healthcare access
Establish a legal aid desk for members facing injustice

The event drew support from prominent figures:
Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, Governor of Bauchi State (represented by Deputy Awwal Muhammad Jatau), pledged government support for the association’s goals.
Senator Shehu Buba, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Security and Intelligence, congratulated the newly inaugurated leaders and advocated for sustainable herding practices and environmental protection.
