The Kano State House of Assembly has received tow correspondences from the Executive Governo Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The letters were formally presented during plenary by the Rt. Honourable Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore in a statement signed by the Speaker’s spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, on Monday and made available to thetentaclesnews.com.ng in which the first letter was a request for the nomination of Saidu Yahaya for confirmation as Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
According to the Governor, the nomination was based on Yahaya’s merit, integrity, and proven track record of service and competence.
While the second letter the Governor requested the House’s approval of the 2025 Proposed Supplementary Amendment Bill. The request was made in the light of the ongoing infrastructural transformation across the state, particularly within metropolitan areas, which has led to the initiation of urban renewal projects. The bill also addresses the creation of newly established Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) aimed at accelerating development priorities.
It may be recalled that following the disclosure of the 2024 audited accounts, an excess of ₦81,000,000,000 was identified, in addition to the ₦29,000,000,000 earlier captured as the opening balance in the 2025 approved budget. The proposed supplementary amendment is expected to be funded by a total of ₦169,522,463,294.81.The proposal is currently receiving the House’s utmost attention, and the Rt. Honourable Speaker has referred the request to the appropriate committee for review and subsequent approval.
