The Kano State Government says it is working to address the worsening problem of soil erosion in Gwarzo Local Government Area.
This was disclosed by the Back ce Chairman of Gwarzo local government Abdulmumin Garba Always while receiving Federal Government team from Federal Ministry of Environment who were on on the sight visitation to the Local Government Area as part of the Federal government efforts to partner with State Government in addressing Environmental challenges.
The Vice Chairman reiterated the State Government under the leadership of Governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf commitments towards putting an end to the problem of soil erosion in Gwarzo.
Lakwaya took the delegation to several areas affected by erosion, including Unguwar Tsamiya and Lakwaya Main Market in Lakwaya Ward, Malamawa in Jama’a Ward, the town’s cemetery, and locations behind Getso Main Market in Getso Ward.
The leader of the federal team, Engineer Muhammad Kabir, outlined the reason for their visit.“We are here to assess the extent of the damage caused by soil erosion and to explore lasting solutions to mitigate its impact,” he said.
“After returning to Abuja, we will submit a comprehensive report and propose measures to address this issue.”
The inspection team included councillors from Lakwaya, Jama’a, and Getso Wards, the Village Head of Getso, and the Adviser to the Chairman on Information and Public Enlightenment
