As part of efforts to enhance safety in water transportation, the Kano State Government under the leadership of Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, will soon provides life jackets to boat operators and passengers in Bagwai Local Government Area.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Commerce, Trade, and Industry, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, during a working visit to the local government in a Press Release by the Information Officer of the Area Bello Shehu Shanono and sent to the tentaclesnews.com.ng
The Commissioner, stated that the distribution is not limited to Bagwai alone, as the Governor has approved the exercise for 19 other local government areas that rely on water transport systems.He further revealed that professional training will be provided to boat operators on the proper use management of life jackets, after which the Governor will officially launch the distribution.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Cocus in the area, Alhaji Musa Ibrahim Badau, appreciated the state government’s proactive steps in addressing the recurring loss of lives at the Bagwai Dam.
He then called on the people of the area to actively part take in the training sessions on how to use the life jackets, emphasizing their importance.
He also thanked the Executive Chairman of Bagwai LGA, Engineer Bello Abdullahi Gadanya, for his consistent efforts in addressing the needs of his people.
