Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) towards the transformation of custodial facilities in the state as released by the Public Relations of the Service Unit in National Headquarters,Abuja which was sent to thetentaclesnews.com.ng
The Governor, through a special delegation led by Commissioner for Internal Security, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umaru, Rtd, visited the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche at the Service Headquarters, Abuja, to commend the Federal Government for the establishment of the Kano Ultra-Model Custodial Centre, Janguza which stands as a state of the art landmark intervention in strengthening the justice and correctional system in the state.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner, commended the efforts of the Kano State Controller, Ado Inuwa, for the robust collaboration and cordial working relationship between the Command and the State Government, noting that such synergy has been pivotal in ensuring public safety, rehabilitation, and community security.
The leader of delegation also used the occasion to seek partnership with the NCoS towards modernization of the Kurumawa facility and the completion of the Janguza Custodial Centre, in Kano, describing both projects as critical to inmates decongestion and advancing the reformation agenda within the state’s correctional systems.
While responding, the Controller General of Corrections, welcomed the August visitors and reaffirmed the Service’s commitments to sustaining collaboration with state governments in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the justice and security sector.
He appreciated the Kano State Government for its unwavering support and commitments towards the welfare of inmates and assured the delegation that the Service remains focused on modernizing custodial facilities, enhancing inmates’ rehabilitation, and strengthening community corrections.
The delegation comprisies of Commissioner Special Duties, Alh. Nasiru Sule Garo, the Chairperson Kano State Prerogative of Mercy, Haj. Azumi Namadi Bebeji, the Press Secretary to Kano State Government Musa Tanko and the Kano State Command Controller Ado Inuwa.
The visit underscores the growing recognition of correctional facilities as vital partners in ensuring security reform,and highlights the resolve of the Kano State Government to work hand in hand with the NCoS in building a more secure and reformed society.
