The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has continued its enrollee town hall series with a successful engagement today at Tofa Primary Healthcare Centre, Tofa Local Government Area.
The session, organized by the Department of Standards and Quality Assurance with support from the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), provided an interactive platform for dialogue between KSCHMA, enrollees, healthcare workers, and community leaders to strengthen access, transparency, and accountability in healthcare service delivery, as revealed by the Spokesperson of the Agency,Aminu Ahmad Turaki
Representing the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhtar, the Director of Administration and General Services, Amina Sani Usman, delivered the Agency’s message of commitment to citizen-centered healthcare:
“Our town hall engagements are designed to bring government closer to the people. We want to hear your voices, understand your challenges, and ensure that the healthcare system reflects your needs. This is how we build trust and strengthen accountability.”She stressed that the initiative aligns with the vision of His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, Governor of Kano State, to deliver accessible, affordable, and equitable healthcare to all residents, particularly the poor and vulnerable.
Speaking on behalf of CHAI, Dr. Kabiru Gulma applauded KSCHMA’s leadership in prioritizing community engagement:“Healthcare reforms can only succeed when the voices of beneficiaries are placed at the center. This town hall demonstrates KSCHMA’s dedication to co-creation and responsive service delivery.”
Also present, Sani Abdu Primary Health Care Coordinator,Tofa Local Government emphasized that such engagements strengthen accountability and ensure resources are properly utilized for maximum impact.
The highlight of the meeting was the interactive Q&A session, during which enrollees expressed appreciation for the contributory healthcare scheme. They, however, raised concerns about drug availability, referral processes, and the need for improved diagnostic services at the facility to support maternal and child health.KSCHMA assured participants that their feedback would be documented and acted upon, reaffirming the Agency’s resolve to sustain enrollee town halls across all Local Government Areas as part of its quality assurance framework.
The Agency expressed its appreciation to CHAI, SPHCMB, community leaders, health workers, and enrollees for their active contributions and participation in the event.
