According to Malam Mukhtar Sulaiman, the officer in charge of preventive and curative services at the Dawakin Tofa Primary Health Care Department, stating that the Kano State Government in collaboration with international health partners has intensified efforts to provide preventive malaria medication to communities, especially during the high mosquito breeding months of July, August, and September as contained in a Press Release issued by the Zonal Information Officer,Aminu Ahmad Rano and made available to thetentaclesnews.com.ng
He stressed that anyone who contracts malaria should immediately report to the nearest health facility for medical attention He also advised pregnant women to begin antenatal service in earnest from conception to delivery where they will receive preventive medication and pregnancy care services as a strategy for safe delivery
In her remarks, Hajiya Balaraba B. Gambo, Head of Primary Health Care in Dawakin Tofa, reported that the distribution of preventive malaria medication has been highly successful, reaching about 90% of eligible children in the area. She expressed appreciation for the continuous support from the Dawakin Tofa Local Government leadership in advancing community health.
She further noted that, recently, the Kano State Government together with volunteer organizations distributed 5,710 insecticide-treated mosquito nets across 86 centers within the local government as part of the malaria prevention campaign. Also speaking, Malam Ibrahim Ayuba, the officer in charge of medical supplies, disclosed that the local government received over 10,800 doses of malaria drugs from the Ministry of Health, which were distributed across 11 wards and 47 health facilities. The medicines were administered to children aged 3 months to 59 months over a four-day exercise with follow-up monitoring.He then advised general publics that whenever they notice sign of malaria,they immediately visit the nearest health facility for proper treatment. and as well they should use insecticide-treated mosquito nets and support all preventive measures to safeguard our Communities
