Nigerian Ophthalmic Nurses Association celebrates World Sight Day in Plateau State
The Nigeria Ophthalmic Nurses Association has joined millions of Nigeria in celebrating World Sight Day which has began with road walk PLATEAU STATE have join the WORLD in celebrating 2025 WORLD SIGHT DAY with road walk from Plateau State Polytechnic Jos Campus to the State Ministry of Health where Press Briefing was held by the representative of the State Commissioner for Health
During the Press briefing the Commissioner identified with the exeptional roles of the Association in fighting the menace of curable diseases associated with sights and assured them that the incumbent administration would continue to partner with the Association in ensuring a healthy society.
While responding the State Chairman Titus Peter commended the efforts of the State Governor of prioritizing Health Sector, pointing out that it has become evidently clear that the State Governor is revolutionizing Health Sector through remodelling Health facilities and equipping them with world class State of art facilities for the betterment of the people in Plateau State.
On the second day of the World Sight Day series of eyes screening at different Health Institutions were carried out including Comprehensive Health Center,Dadin Kowa,last Gate, Primary Health Centers of Kabong,Laranto,AngwanRogo, Plateau Radio and Television Authority and Ray Field.
Similarly cataract surgery were administered at Comprehensive Health Center Dadin Kowa last Gate.
To cap it up and to drive the message to the ear drop of the people in the State, Health talks was conducted with a theme of this year’s World Sight Day -Live Your Eyes; Access to all”
The program was shouldered by different organizations including Plateau State Ministry of Health,Sight savers, Health and Development Support Programme( HANDS), Clinton Health Access Initiative, Christian Blind Mission and COCIN Sabon Kayi,Mangu.
The programme witnessed large turnout of people where they all all screened and some were provided with reading glasses,yet others were booked for intensive cataract surgery,still others were referred for further investigation and treatment at either secondary or tertiary Health care providers.
The Chairman Titus Peter commended the selfless service rendered by the Health Professionals during the World Sight Day activities which includes Ophthalmologists, Ophthalmic Nurses, Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians among other supporting staff.
The Chairman equally thanks Media organizations for their hectic support in making the programme a reality which resulted into objectives accomplishments, as he also saluted traditional Title holders for their exceptional roles in mobilizing the people during the programme.
