As part of his initiative to digitalized Journalism practice in compliance with global best Practice,Professor Umar Pate the incumbent Vice Chancellor of Federal University,Kashere, Gombe State has donated twenty laptops to the Department of Mass Communication which was recently upgraded to the position of Faculty of Communications and Media Studies in the University of Maiduguri.
The donation comes after an interactive session with Mass Communication Students and that of Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri which was organized by the Department in collaboration with Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals alongside Society of Nigeria Broadcasters
While handing over the items to the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Muhammad Laminu Mele, Professor Umar Pate said he would continue to support the Faculty and make it one of the best citadel of Journalistic excellence in accordance with global best Practice.
While receiving the donated items, Professor Muhammad Laminu Mele extended his appreciation on behalf of the University Management adding that the Faculty would make the best use of the Laptops.
Mele, added that “Professor Umar Pate was well known for his commitments to the development of Journalism and Communication across the globe,” stressing that” we are not surprised by such humanitarian gestures of Pate we know that he can do more than that and we’re really proud of him as somebody who put service above self
While responding, the Head of Mass Communication Department of the University who is also the NorthEast Deputy President of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals, Dr Abdulmutallib Abubakar expressed gratitude to Professor Umar Pate pointing out that Pate stands as a role model in the field of Communication and Media Studies across the globe.
Dr Abdulmutallib Abubakar further stressed that,as we all know Professor Umar Pate as echelon and astute academician of international reputations is really committed to Journalists excellence which is worthy of emulations.
The attendees were visibly delighted for having time to be with Professor Pate who is regarded as the most respected figure in Media and Communication Studies in the nation, saying that “we actually taped from his wealthy experiences, expertise and wisdom during our interaction with him.
