The Spinal Cord Injury Association, Kano State Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Disabled.
The essence of the visit was to discuss the upcoming International Day of Spinal Cord Injury, scheduled for September 5th among others
According to the Chairman of the association, the September program was aimed at sensitizing those affected by spinal cord injuries on self-care and management.
He also highlighted the importance of educating the public on proper handling of accident victims to prevent further injury.
The Association was well known for their struggles in collaborating with both Public and Private Organizations as well as Philanthropists and other donor agencies with a view to alleviate the suffering of its members, through series of consultations, dialogue and advocacies at different points in time.
The association’s program provides a platform for victims to share experiences and challenges, and the association offers support to its members, including provision of wheelchairs, diapers, and other medical essentials.While responding on behalf of the Commissioner, Director Special Duties, Mairo Halliru Haruna, assured the association of the ministry’s support and assistance stating that under the leadership of the Commissioner, the ministry would provide necessary assistance to alleviate the suffering faced by members of the association.
The Directors of the ministry and representatives of the association engaged in a fruitful discussion, exploring ways to collaborate with relevant stakeholders for the support of the association and its members
