Bichi Local Government Council has distributed over one hundred and fifty-five (155) cartons of nutritional supplements to children suffering from malnutrition within the area.
The Supervisory Councillor Primary Health Department Malam Bashir Sabi’u Magaji Saye, made this known during the official launch of the support programme held at the Bichi Local Government Secretariat.
According to a statement issued by the Local government Information Officer, Jamila Abdullahi R/Lemo, which was made available to thetentaclesnews.com.ng stated that Malam Bashir Sabi’u Magaji Saye reaffirmed the commitment of the local government to continue working diligently across all sectors—particularly in the area of health for the overall developments of the Area.
The Council further disclosed that several designated health facilities will continue to serve as distribution points where parents of malnourished children can access the nutritional supplement at ease.
These facilities include Saye, Danzabuwa, Badume, Dutsen-Karya, and Malikawa-Garu Health Centers.
On his part, the Head of the Primary Health Care Department in the Bichi Local Government, Malam Kabiru Abubakar Gwarzo stated that thirty-one (31) cartons of the nutritional supplement have been allocated across the listed facilities for the benefit of affected children.
“Each child will receive one carton, so that they can finish the full dosage without interruption; that is why it is set aside for them, with the hope that, God willing, before it runs out, the child will recover from this illness called severe acute malnutrition.
Therefore, the number of children with the condition to benefit in each hospital is thirty-one (31),” he said.”
In his remarks, the Chairman of Bichi Local Government Area, Alhaji Hamza Sule Mai Fata, urged health officials responsible for the distribution exercise to fear Allah, maintain transparency, and avoid all forms of mismanagement in the discharge of their duties.
He further announced the appointment of two (2) persons from each ward to monitor the distribution process, ensure accountability, safeguard public resources, and guarantee fairness among beneficiaries.
