Social protection and improvement of nutrition for women and children in the state remains our top priority for the emergence of a healthy society as we prioritize Women and Children inclusion in the State

This was made known by the Governor of Kano State Abba Kabir Yusuf during a one-day sensitization program on Social Protection and Nutrition, organized by the Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and People with Special Needs in a statement issued by the Director Public Enlightenment of the Ministry Bintu Nuhu Yakasai and made available to thetentaclesnews.com.ng

The Governor, represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran, emphasized the critical importance of proper nutrition and dietetics —especially among the children aged 1 to 2 years—for optimal brain development and lifelong well-being.

Stressing that several ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting and protecting women’s health in Kano State are in the pipeline.

Adding that government has implemented various programs, including maternal healthcare services, vaccination drives, and health education campaigns, to improve women’s health outcomes.”

In her address, the Commissioner Ministry of Women Affairs Children and People with special needs, Amina Abdullahi Sani, reiterated the Governor’s commitment to women’s development and well-being.

She assured participants that the Ministry would continue to complement the Governor’s efforts to bring meaningful improvements to the lives of women in Kano State.

She further urged women to adopt and promote good personal hygiene, prioritize children’s hygiene, and embrace proper nutrition practices.

The Commissioner also directed Women Development Officers to cascade the information and skills acquired during the sensitization to women at the grassroots level in their respective local government areas.

Director, Women Department, Bilkisu Shafi’u Jibrin, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for her continued cooperation and tireless dedication to the Ministry’s projects and objectives.

The program is one of several initiatives aligned with the Governor’s agenda to promote inclusive social protection and enhance nutrition for women and vulnerable groups in Kano State.
