The Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, charged the state athletes taking part in the 9th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, Delta State, to make the state proud and be law-abiding.
He stated this during an interview with the newsmen at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba while screening exercise of the athletes was taking place, urging them to be good ambassadors of the state and compete cleanly and fairly as the Games open tomorrow, Friday.
The Commissioner, then assured them of the State government full backing at all the times and commended the sportsmanship of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unrelenting support for youth and sports development in the state, as well as approved the airlift of Kano State Athletes contingents to Delta State to attend this year’s NYG.A total of 89 Kano State athletes, male and female, have been screened in front of the commissioner.
The Acting Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Fagge, in his response, further appealed to the Contingents to display high sense of maturity, morality agility and capability with sole aim of winning the trophies as he also saluted the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unwavering support to sports development and also the Commissioner for being with the athletes since day one which he described as a morale booster to the athletes
